Constipation 

Constipation is one of the most common gastrointestinal complaints. Almost everyone experiences constipation at some point in his life. Women are definitely more affected by it. Constipation may mean differently for certain people. Infrequent passing of stools, difficulties in voiding, sense of incomplete voiding are all suggestive signs of constipation. The normal reference range for bowel movements varies from one person to another. Some people have bowel movements three times per day, others, only one or two times per week. Medically, constipation is defined as fewer than 3 bowel movements in a week. Constipation may be considered severe, when there is less than one bowel movement in a week.

Symptoms of Constipation

Infrequent stools with no other complaints is rarely abnormal. Women are more affected than men. The elderly and children are however most prone to constipation.

Causes of Constipation 

 Antacid medicines containing calcium or aluminium

  Changes in your usual diet or activities 

 Eating a lot of dairy products.

  Irritable bowel syndrome 

 Neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis 

 Not being active

  Not enough water or fiber in your diet

  Some medications (especially strong pain drugs such as narcotics, antidepressants, or iron pills) 

Diagnosis of Constipation 

 These three tests are done to find out precisely about Constipation
